i get cute ftp, and tryied to chance the permissions...

i can put all then, only the one that i realy need... 444
(read, read, read)..

is there any limitation with this permission?

Yes, i tried with Cute FTP.

I do the follow operations:

1- Change the permissions of the file for CHMOD 444 (read only)

2- I get the return message that the operation was OK

3- When i go to check the file, it still with the last CHMOD that was 644 (read & write, read, read)

I don't know why it hapened, but the operation can't be completed by some reason.

I hope that i resolve the problem...

but i still can't put the 444 permission on a file...

444 isn't allowed nor is 777
try hosting your files on an other server
or try CHMOD'ing your files at http://www2ftp.de

I have tryied to CHMOD the file with 2ftp.de, but occurs the same problem...

the CHMOD appear to be succefull but the file remains with same attributes.

I can't host my files in other server 'cause it is a part of my php system.

for security reasons i need to have the "mainfile.php" in read only (444) attribute.

if any host admin of the host can do this for me i will so glad.
